A cultured pearl is a pearl created by an oyster farmer under controlled conditions. Cultured pearls can be farmed using two very different groups of bivalve mollusk: the freshwater river mussels, and the saltwater pearl oysters.
They come in a variety of colors from natural to bright vibrant colors.
We do NOT know what color is in each pearl, it is a mystery to us as well as you which makes it so much fun!!
We can NOT guarantee a color, or a pearl however if there isn't a pearl we will open another one for you :)
The difference between natural pearls and cultured pearls...NATURAL PEARLS are made when a foreign object naturally makes its way into an oyster and a pearl is formed over the years. In a CULTURED PEARL a foreign object (piece of shell) is manually inserted into the shell and it grows over the years.
CULTURED and NATURAL PEARLS are made of the same material and both take up to 7 years to create!
